Seminars (2:00pm - 3:15pm)
A-Men Problem?
F1 - John Burns
The church seems short of men. Why does church often appear boring, irrelevant or feminine to lots of men? We will explore our churches through a bloke’s eyes and ask what might need to change to make it great for guys.
Jon Burns is Senior Pastor at Yarm Vineyard. He is the founder of the LIONSRAW football fan movement, and the UK Director of More Than Gold (the Christian coalition for the 2012 Olympics). He is married to Sandra - a long suffering football widow!
Heresies and Heroes
F3 - Chris Parsons
What happened after the ‘Acts of the Apostles’? Many of our core beliefs came to be hammered out as internal conflicts and external pressures threw up both new heresies and new heroes - the Early Church Fathers. With remarkable similarity to our post Christendom age, their voices can bring fresh clarity to our understanding of Jesus’ ministry today.
Chris is married to Maggie. They lead West Suffolk Vineyard and currently serve as Area Leaders for East Anglia.
Love Your (Muslim) Neighbour
F5 - Dan Green
If you would like to understand Muslims better
or your church wants to engage with the local Muslim community, this seminar aims to give you insight into what Muslims believe alongside simple practical ideas that will take your relationships to the next level. We will discuss ways that followers of Jesus can talk about faith with Muslims in natural ways.
Dan has lived in the Middle East for 7 years and leads initiatives to facilitate relationships between Muslims and Christians.
Leading Ladies
Auditorium - Eleanor Mumford
This seminar is designed primarily for women who seek to lead others, with all the challenges to wisdom and common sense which that entails. In all her years serving in the local church as well as the movement, she ardently hopes she might have picked up one or two insights and even a couple of pearls along the way.
Seminars (3:45pm - 4:45pm)
Social Media
F1 - Jason Clark
The issue isn’t whether you engage in social
media but how and why. Are you overwhelmed with Twitter, Facebook, and blogging? This seminar explores the nature of social media, how it affects and shapes us for good and bad, and suggests strategies for engaging with it personally and organisationally.
Jason and his wife Bev planted a church in Sutton, SW London, nearly 14 years ago, and have three teenage kids.
Why Justice? 2
F3 - Matt Hyam
Justice is central to Jesus’ message of the Kingdom of God, so what about the choices that we make in our lives which affect people on the other side of the world? What about the banks we use? The food we eat? The clothes we buy? What about our treatment of the environment? Does it matter? Does Jesus have anything to say about these things?
Matt is the Senior Pastor at Southampton Vineyard.
Keeping Things Moving: Small Group Growth and Development
F5 - Mark & Louise Williams
Keeping our small groups vibrant, healthy and growing can be a challenge. It’s easy to fall back into a maintenance culture! We’ll look at practical tools to help your small groups grow and flourish – casting the vision, healthy pastoral care, training leaders and teams, managing disappointment, successful multiplication of groups and establishing a strong church structure to facilitate growth... all to keep things moving.
Mark & Louise are Associate Pastors at West Suffolk Vineyard and are responsible for small group growth and development.
Distinctives of the Vineyard: Worshippers of God & Rescuers of Man...
Y7 - Jeremy & Elaine Cook, John Clarke
A practical workshop looking at one of the key distinctives of the Vineyard highlighted by John Mumford at last year’s NLC: Worshippers of God & rescuers of men and women. Jeremy & Elaine Cook and John Clark from the Hull Vineyard will draw from their extensive involvement and experience of Vineyard worship and evangelism to provide a valuable resource for any Vineyard church.
Girls, Gold & Glory: Pitfalls Facing Leaders?
Auditorium - John Mumford
Since we are all in this for the long-haul and fully intend to finish well, John Mumford is planning to hold a ‘full and frank’ conversation about some of the pitfalls, pressures and temptations which leaders face at every level of pastoral ministry.
